ICE SENDS I-9 AUDIT NOTICES TO HUNDREDS OF EMPLOYERS NATIONWIDE
Recently, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued I-9 audit notices to more than five-hundred employers nationwide. This latest-round of I-9 enforcement will ensure that 2010 is a record-breaking year in audits conducted and fines issued.
"This is meant to be a wake-up call to all employers," says Ryan Adair, Manager of MSEC's Immigration Services. "Even seemingly small I-9 errors can result in huge fines for employers."
This week's audit is just the latest step in a major shift in worksite enforcement priorities announced in April 2009. The new strategy identifies I-9 audits as the most important tool in ensuring compliance and building criminal cases against employers. The latest round flows largely from leads about employers hiring unauthorized workers, underpaying workers, and otherwise exploiting workers.
Adair says, "Employers without a good I-9 file are playing an increasingly risky numbers game." He continues, "ICE now expects every employer to have a comprehensive I-9 compliance policy and a solid I-9 file."
Is your organization ready for a potential I-9 audit? Are you confident that your I-9 files are in good shape?

CADA LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEE DEALER MEETINGS
The CADA Legislative Policy Committee is scheduling dealer meetings with Colorado state legislators in order to increase awareness and gain support for the many policy issues expected to face auto dealers in the upcoming session of the Colorado General Assembly which convenes January 12, 2011.
Several meetings are planned and you are invited to participate in as many of the meetings as you are able to do.
The primary purpose of this series of brief get-togethers is to foster and advance relationships between CADA member dealers and Colorado’s elected leaders.
The following topics areas are expected to be covered in each session:
- Auto industry issues in general
- Colorado dealer issues in particular
- Proposals to repeal Colorado’s ban on Sunday sales of automobiles
- Growing class action litigation against the auto retail industry
- Trends in auto sales in state and nationally
- Sales tax jurisdictional issues
With the economic challenges faced by the industry today, it is more important than ever that state legislators get the opportunity to hear from you on issues of importance to you and your business.

WEBINAR: RECONCILING ACTUAL PARTS INVENTORY TO THE GENERAL LEDGER
Take the struggle out of this important monthly process!
11:00am(MDT), Thursday – October 7, 2010
Does your general ledger for parts inventory compare to what the parts manager says is actually on hand? Reconciling these two measures of your dealership investment in parts is vitally important. When unexplained differences climb to just small percentages of total inventory, large dollar sums are placed into a cloud of doubt.
Join us as Mike Nicholes, President, Nicholes Capital Management discuss both the importance of this monthly exercise as well as how to achieve the goal of a fully reconciled parts inventory without the headaches.

More and more dealers are adopting a “negotiation-free” selling model with huge success!
11:00am(MDT), Thursday – October 21, 2010
The Internet has changed the landscape of automobile shopping tremendously; customers are no longer in the dark about car prices! Online review sites give the disgruntled consumer a megaphone to share their experiences with you dealership. The costs of maintaining a traditional showroom process continue to climb while effectiveness wanes.
Join us as Mark Rikess of The Rikess Group discusses why so many dealers are taking action by changing the culture in their showrooms to amore transparent and open non-negotiation based selling system. Case studies presented demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach, now its up to you to be the catalyst for change in your showrooms.
