DEALER ACTION ALERT: DEALERS MUST OBTAIN OFF-PREMISE PERMITS BEFORE THE START OF THE AUTO SHOW

Off-Premise Permit applications must be submitted no later than 5:00pm today!!

This is to remind all member dealers who intend to engage in any sales activity* at the Denver Auto Show—which runs March 30th through April 3rd this year—that an off- premise permit must be obtained BEFORE the start of the show.

*Sales Activity: Generally, an off-site permit is required when sales activity is taking place off-site, not for the mere display-only of vehicles. While the topic of what exactly constitutes “sales” is a somewhat gray area, CADA encourages dealers to err on the side of caution. Typically, “sales activity” is deemed to include test drives or any discussions with a consumer regarding price, financing, and/or related aspects of an actual deal that extend beyond discussing the vehicle attributes and features. That is the guidance that has been provided at the Denver International Auto Show in the past regarding “sales activity” in reference to Sunday sales.

URGENT: STATE TITLES & REGISTRATION COMPUTER SYSTEM DOWN!

The Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) issued the following press release yesterday:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 27, 2011
Colorado State Titling and Registration System Outage

The state computer system that provides motor vehicle titling and registration services continues to be out of service.

Officials have been working for the past week to restore the Colorado State Titling and Registration System (CSTARS) and expect it to be unavailable until Monday April 4, 2011. The outage occurred during maintenance efforts.

As a result of this outage, county offices are not currently able to provide same-day printing of vehicle titles. Those offices can perform titling transactions, but the title document cannot be printed until the state system is restored. The documents will be mailed to the vehicle owner at that time.

All motor vehicle registrations can be renewed online at Colorado.gov or at county motor vehicle offices.

Updates regarding the CSTARS system can be found at the state’s official website, www.Colorado.gov.

_____________________________________________________________________

DOR representatives have indicated that I.T. staff continue to work around the clock to bring the system back into service.  They expect to provide another status update by Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., unless there is a significant change before then.   During this outage both counties and the state are unable to print titles at all.  The title transaction can still be performed resulting in a state printed title at a later date.

THIS WEEK!! WEBINAR: WHAT TO DO WHEN AN INSPECTOR KNOCKS ON YOUR DOOR
How to react during an OSHA, EPA or FAA inspection

Maintaining a compliant workplace is always an important aspect of preparedness, but what procedures should you follow once the regulator is onsite? Unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of knowing when the next inspection will occur, at what facility, and for what purpose – EPA, OSHA, DOT/FAA, Fire Marshall, State, County, or City regulators. This webinar will cover what you should expect when the regulators unexpectedly show up at your facility and how to handle it. Knowing what to expect will reduce stress regarding the inspection process and may minimize your risk of potential fines.
