AUTO INDUSTRY NEWS AT A GLANCE

Listed here are several articles pertaining to the
auto industry in general that appeared recently in newspapers and other media outlets across the nation.

…more news articles are included at the end of this issue.

REMINDER: UNIFORM CONSUMER CREDIT CODE (UCCC) - ANNUAL NOTIFICATION FILING * * LATE FEES BEGIN TO ACCRUE AS OF MARCH 1ST* *

Most all dealers in Colorado need to make this annual filing with the Attorney General’s office (few exceptions include dealerships that do not assign any retail paper (installment contracts), do not arrange financing, or do not make any consumer credit transactions).

The annual notice fee remains $100.00
(same as 2011).  LATE FEES: the annual fee is due each year by January 31st (with a 30-day grace period; late fees of $5.00 per day start to accrue on March 1st).

CLICK HERE to review the UCCC memo regarding this annual filing (includes the filing form also)

About the UCCC:  The Colorado Uniform Consumer Credit Code (UCCC) is a state law that regulates the terms and conditions of consumer credit in the State of Colorado. It sets maximum rates and charges for some fees, requires disclosure of the cost of credit so consumers may shop for the best rates, and provides remedies for consumers on default.

Dealerships, as retail merchants that regularly extend consumer credit and "arrange financing" (even if all paper is ultimately assigned to a lender) are included in the UCCC requirement to annually file with the state. The UCCC is enforced by an Administrator within the Attorney General’s office.

CADA BOARD AND AURORA MAYOR PRO TEM VISIT UNIFIRST'S STATE-OF-THE-ART LOCAL PLANT

The CADA Board and Aurora Mayor Pro Tem Marsha Berzins were hosted last week by endorsed provider UniFirst.  In advance of the quarterly board meeting, all were given a tour of the facility—a state of the art operation that opened in May, 2012 and provides nearly fifty local jobs.  Key features of this facility and UniFirst products include the following:

  • Garments made from highest-quality fabrics – so they last longer and lower overall costs
  • Ten-point quality inspection on all garments.  Those needing repair are tagged with a barcode and mended accordingly
  • Every shirt is pressed as a complimentary service ensuring a professional image unlike many competitors
  • Multiple-day buffer on processing to ensure timely delivery due to any mechanical issues that may arise
  • Automated barcode sortation systems for routing and delivery to individual wearers to ensure accuracy and dependability in weekly service deliveries
  • A “Green” plant including high energy efficient T5 lighting, reuse of water to reduce water consumption, a heat reclaimer to reduce gas consumption from the boiler and a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) used to remove waste contaminants prior to going to the municipality.
  • Automated liquid detergent system connected to the washers ensures proper chemistry for each specific garment type and soil contaminants.

When your uniform contract is up for renewal, we encourage you to contact UniFirst to learn more about their service offerings—and remember that selecting CADA Endorsed providers helps support all that your association does for the Colorado retail vehicle industry .

About UniFirst:  UniFirst Corporation is one of the top textile service businesses in North America. The company’s core business is the Rental, Lease and Sale of uniforms, protective clothing, and custom corporate workwear.  With an office in Grand Junction, a new state-of-the-art service facility in Denver, and a local account team, Unifirst can serve dealers across the state.  Visit the company web site at:  http://www.unifirst.com
