F&I RESOURCE CENTER HERE TO OFFER GROWTH, AWARENESS, SECURITY

CADA created a "for profit" F&I development and resource center. When creating the resource center we could have simply set out to offer products--instead, we created a full suite agency committed to member dealer profitability, enhanced growth, awareness and security. We achieve all this through continuing education, creating new opportunities and building strong, long lasting relationships.

For more information on the industry-leading vehicle service agreements, GAP, Tire & Wheel, training and much more, CLICK HERE to read more about the F&I Resource Center offerings (from a letter recently sent to association members), or visit our website at www.cadaonline.org/resourcecenter.htm.

AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AT A GLANCE

Listed here are several articles pertaining to the auto industry in general that appeared recently in newspapers and other media outlets across the nation.

  • Molson Coors will fuel DNC vehicles with ethanol from waste beer
    Denver Business Journal, May 21
The Molson Coors Brewing Co. has been named the official ethanol provider for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, to be held in Denver Aug. 25-28.
  • Report details EPA rule reversal
    The Detroit News, May 20
The head of the Environmental Protection Agency reversed himself on whether to grant California's request to impose a 30-percent reduction in vehicle tailpipe emissions by 2016 after talking to White House officials, according to a report released Monday.
  • Car Makers' Boom Years Now Look Like a Bubble
The Wall Street Journal, May 20
Like investors who sent dot-com stocks or house prices to unsustainable levels, auto manufacturers in the U.S. have pushed their sales volumes to new peaks over the past decade. They invited customers to buy cars at employee prices, extended no-interest loans for up to six years and sold unprecedented numbers of vehicles to rental fleets -- all strategies that some analysts say drove U.S. auto sales to artificial highs.
  • Today's Gas-Guzzling Exotic Cars May Get Zapped by New Fuel Rules
The Wall Street Journal, May 20
A Porsche 911 is a marvel of automotive engineering and an object of desire for people who've worked hard enough, and been lucky enough, to have $80,000 or more to drop on an exotic sports car. One thing a Porsche 911 doesn't do is get 41.3 miles per gallon in city and highway driving.
  • National Auto Dealers Foundation Makes Donation to Restore Athletic Fields in New Orleans
    NADA News, May 15
On behalf of NADA and its Charitable Foundation, NADA Chairwoman Annette Sykora presented a check for $400,000 to help restore the athletic fields at the largest public high school in New Orleans. The check was presented to the Brees Dream Foundation (founded by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees) to benefit the Lusher School, a premiere charter school that was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The donation is part of NADA's ongoing support for our 2009 convention city.

CADA forwards news articles and opinion columns of interest
through the Open Road to inform members of current events.
These in no way reflect the views, opinions, and/or positions
of CADA or its member dealers. They are sent for
informational and educational purposes only.

ATHENA AWARD FINALIST: LISA SCHOMP
Owner of Ralph Schomp Automotive is modest about her success and charitable work — and comfortable in a pair of work boots
Colorado Biz Magazine, May 2008

Lisa Schomp has the spacious corner office of Ralph Schomp Automotive and is the leader of the perennially No. 1 ranked ColoradoBiz woman-owned business. But Schomp still sports casual shoes today — brown work boots covered with dust from the construction site of her new 70,000-square-foot BMW showroom in Douglas County.

Schomp’s attitude toward her successes remains as humble as her boots, which stems from her first job at the dealership, where she started at age 19.

"My dad hired me to push the coffee cart with doughnuts up and down Broadway. I wore a miniskirt and a halter top," says Schomp, who has been lauded as an Athena Award finalist this year by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Her new dealership is tentatively set to open in September.

PUEBLO DODGE BUYS JEEP, CHRYSLER LINES
Chrysler's new management wants its brand all under one roof.
The Pueblo Chieftain, May 15

Pueblo Dodge became the new home of the region's Chrysler and Jeep franchises Wednesday.

The deal is good news for Pueblo Dodge, according to owner Dan Fitzgerald, who also owns Pueblo Toyota. Chrysler is streamlining its offerings and likely will get rid of "cross-branded" vehicles, which are similar makes sold under two brand names.
