Her trip from Spokane, Wash., to Fort Collins wasn't pleasant to begin with. Nan Swanson was making the 1,038-mile trek to attend a friend's funeral. But her trip got even worse when she noticed a problem with her van.

2010 ANNUAL FUEL ECONOMY GUIDE NOW AVAILABLE
Dealers have a legal responsibility to provide the guide to customers upon request

Unveiling the 2010 Fuel Economy Guide this week, the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. EPA are seeking help from dealers to provide their customers with information about fuel economy and the benefits of driving more fuel-efficient vehicles. The guide gives consumers important information about estimated fuel costs and mileage standards for model year 2010 vehicles. The guide is also available to mobile users (fueleconomy.gov/m), and is readily accessible from a mobile device, smart phone, or personal digital assistant. Click here for the EPA/DOE letter detailing the legal responsibility of dealers to make the guide available to customers.

There are a number of options available for dealers to meet these requirements. First, EPA/DOE will electronically distribute the guide to dealers. To meet regulatory obligations to display a booklet and to provide a booklet to customers upon request, dealers can print the guide from either the electronic file which will be emailed or available by download at www.fueleconomy.gov. Second, if access to the Internet is unavailable, dealers may order a printed paper guide. Orders for the guide are currently being accepted and will be mailed, free of charge, by the end of Nov. 2009. Click here to place an online order for the paper guide. Third, printed copies can be requested from DOE’s Information Center by calling 877.337.3463 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. EDT. Click here for the form to order paper copies by mail.

VENDOR FEE ELIMINATION - HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO SPECIAL DISTRICTS RTD/CD/FD TAXES

Effective immediately the Colorado Department of Revenue has determined that under Senate Bill 09-275, the Colorado sales tax Service Fee rate (also known as the Vendor's Fee) must be reduced to zero for the state-collected special districts Regional Transportation District (RTD), Scientific and Cultural District (CD), and Football District (FD).  
Retailers should no longer take the vendor fee for RTD/CD/FD in the special district column on timely filed returns. This also applies to any retailers that may still be collecting Baseball District sales/use tax. 

• Businesses with multiple locations that file by spreadsheet or on pre-printed forms mailed by the Department must change the special district column to zero. 
• Pre-printed forms sent to multi-location retailers, seasonal filers, and accounts that report retailer's use tax for the October filing period will show the zero vendor fee rate.
• Annual filers will receive pre-printed forms showing the zero vendor fee rate for RTD/CD/FD.
• Single location retailers must change the vendor fee rate on line 8a and put zero on line 8b of the DR 0100, Colorado Sales Tax Return. Single location retailer coupon books sent in January for 2010 will reflect the zero vendor fee rate for RTD, CD, and FD.

The vendor fee rates for other local sales taxes for state-collected cities and counties, county mass transit, county public safety, and local improvement districts are not changed. 
Dealerships need to eliminate the vendor fee for these additional jurisdictions on future filings only

system that many dealerships overlook, may not fully utilize, or may just benefit from more training
on how to use effectively. Tentative topics to be addressed include*:

• Custom reports: understanding how to create custom reports utilizing Report Generator/QueryBuilder
• Custom docs/custom financial statements – how to view in Excel to analyze financials & trending
• How to combine names and clean up duplicate names in your database to market more effectively
• How to use/implement the new “We Owe” enhancements (utilizing technology for communication between
  sales and service as to what is “owed” or “due” on the vehicle) streamline this process to improve CSI and prevent cost of sales mistakes
• Modifying op-codes to auto-map to certain G/L accts (i.e. tracking quick lube dept, detail shop, extended
  warranties, etc.)
