Colorado Dealer Breakfast at NADA Las Vegas 2007 to feature Attorney General John Suthers, 7:15 am, Sunday, February 4, click here to register...

Excerpt from the Colorado Statesman article, "Poli -Sigh" by Susan Tannenbaum (January 12th):

Best party so far this young Capitol Hill season?  Well, that’s easy.  It was the soiree for
the Colorado House Democrats given at the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association mansion.  With CADA’s Tim Jackson as host, it had the right mix of lobbyist and legislator to locale.  And not to worry.  Amendment 41 wasn’t compromised.  The Caucus paid for its members to attend.

Excerpt from the Colorado Statesman dated January 12, 2007:

House Democrats (and Senate GOP) scored the best locale with a mansion on the corner of Speer & Grant, aka the home of the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association (CADA).  This magnificent building featured an upstairs/downstairs set-up where legislators, staffers and lobbyists could mix and mingle; valet parking; two separate bars; a catering kitchen; and lots of guests which is what we’d expect from the party in power.

Tim Jackson from the Automobile Dealers told folks that he wanted this to be the best
pre-session event in the history of Colorado – and we think he succeeded.

Excerpt from the Colorado Statesman dated January 12, 2007:

Polis – at a fundraiser with legislators and lobbyists in the same room!  But the
irony didn’t stop there.  The reception was held at the luxe offices of the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association, the organization that had ponied up so much of the money to oppose Amendment 41, the so-called ethics in government proposal that seeks to limit the influence of lobbyists on elected officials.  And in the center of all the activity on this evening was Tim Jackson, CADA’s president and host extraordinaire who had made it possible for the House Dems (and Senate Republicans earlier that day) to mix and mingle with Colorado’s lobbying corps in such a hospitable and lovely setting.

colorado automobile dealers attending the nada las vegas convention:

Try to attend this valuable seminar:  Myers & Fuller’s “State of the Industry” Seminar

In reviewing events at the upcoming NADA Convention in Las Vegas, dealers should note that one of the leading national experts on motor vehicle franchise issues, Myers and Fuller, is presenting a highly informative dealer-session at the upcoming convention.

Richard Sox and his partner Shawn Mercer will discuss the latest factory initiatives and recommendations on ways dealers can protect themselves both legally and legislatively from those initiatives.  Topics will include consolidation by Ford and General Motors, the impact of the sale of a line-make by the manufacturer, the spin-off of line-makes by General Motors and Ford, imaging and facility programs, as well as incentive programs by import and domestic manufacturers. In addition to dealer-factory issues, discussion will also include the latest F & I compliance issues facing dealers and the impact of class action suits on dealer practices.

CADA staff plan to attend the seminar and encourage Colorado dealers to attend as well. To accommodate busy NADA schedules, Myers & Fuller will conduct the seminar at two different times on Saturday, February 3, 2007.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Richard Sox directly at (850) 878-6404 or rsox@dealerlawyer.com

cada member helps berthoud car accident victims by buying hog

Two high school wrestlers from Berthoud, Colorado, lost their legs in a serious accident when a fellow high school student crashed into their SUV while they were behind it fixing a flat.  The community is extremely saddened and helpful in their time of need as neighbors rally for their medical expenses and quick recovery.

CADA member Dean Dowson and his wife Tracy won the winning bid of $35,000 for something other the grand champion hog, after the owner of the animal committed to using all proceeds for the benefit of two wrestlers’ medial expenses.

Dean is a third generation dealer in Colorado and has served on the board of CADA.  Both Dean and his father, Harry Dowson, have been TIME Magazine Quality Dealer nominees.
